The French automobile company Renault has announced the release of its second NFT collection, RACING SHOE5. It combines one-of-a-kind sneakers inspired by the classic first-generation R5 Turbo models and their digital counterparts as 3D NFT art registered on the blockchain.
The release was followed by the successful launch of its first R5 NFT collection last year. This innovative collection provides an immersive 3D experience for brand enthusiasts, allowing them to own specially designed sneakers while engaging in the burgeoning NFT market.
Limited-Edition Sneakers with NFT Digital Twins
The RACING SHOE5 collection features 960 pairs of sneakers in five unique designs, each influenced by the distinct R5 Turbo model. Every pair of sneakers will be linked to a “digital twin” NFT in the form of 3D artwork registered on the blockchain.
The sneakers will retail for €265 (approximately $292), and the corresponding NFTs will be available for purchase online at the Renault NFT platform from May 17. Early access will be granted to R3NLT web3 community members starting from May 15.
Eco-friendly Materials and Innovative Features
In line with Renault’s dedication to sustainability, the sneakers are crafted using environmentally responsible materials, such as LWG-certified leather. Moreover, each shoe comes with a pre-installed NFC chip. Scanning this chip reveals a second NFT—a “digital passport” that serves as a certificate of authenticity for the sneakers.

The NFT sector is expected to grow at an annual rate of 51%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 37.1% from 2022 to 2028. The total value of the sector is estimated to reach $278.48 billion by 2028. By blending exclusive sneaker designs with NFT technology, Renault is demonstrating its forward-thinking approach to technology and energy within the automotive industry.
